Pipestress Analysis
Process piping and power piping are typically checked by pipe stress engineers to verify that the routing, nozzle loads, hangers, and supports are properly placed and selected such that allowable pipe stress is not exceeded under different conditions such as: dead load, operating, acid cleaning, hydro test etc.
These allowable stresses are governed by ASME or other legislative codes and local government standards. It is also necessary to check the occasional cases such as: earthquake, wind or special vibration and water hammer. This checking can be done with the assistance of a pipe stress analysis program such as ROHR2.
